the things we do for our hubby's

Spent an awful night worrying that the alarm clock won't go off...as we had to get up at 5 AM, Larry had an appt for a colonoscopy at 7:15 this morning... nothing serious, but he had one last year and she wanted to check up on him, so as he showered i went out and let the dogs out... we over feed the sheep last night so we didn't have to worry about them that early... i am sure glad he drove to Kamloops, it was way too early for me... I got to drive home as he was "legally impaired"..things were fine. The weather was great, warm and sunshine... and wind..
We had a guild meeting on Wednesday, we went back to our old room, still wasn't too clean, but we are much more relax there... you won't believe what we talked about... everything from our current projects to body lice, to parasites..lots of giggles... We have even thought about our next guild project..a wimple, or neck scarf or mobius, or something similar...sure found some interesting patterns.. thought i would make one out of silk for my buddy who rides " a Harley".. her new granddaughter got a little t shirt that says "My grandmother rides a Harley".. i have tons of silk, "the socklady" gave me pounds of it at the Desert Mesa retreat in October, so i think i might spin up and dye some wild colours as she is WILD...I have been spinning up some Cashmere and silk that my wonderful friend Isabel gave me..it is for ME... Isabel and Toni gave me a lovely book on circular shawls... so i think i will make me one out of CASHMERE and SILK...i can hardly wait... I am working on a shawl that is so easy, it is for a beginner, but when it comes to the very little bit of lace, i am stumped...you start from the top down and the lace starts near the bottom... but there is over 300 stitches on the needles, so if you make one mistake you don't know until you get to the end... i don't know how many times i 'frogged" it yesterday..i will have to spend a very quiet afternoon and concentrate on it...
We are going out for supper on Saturday nite with one of my agility buds and her hubby, who has been a friend for years..all Jack and Larry talk about are boats.. Right after Larry broke his leg, someone stole our wood splitter..which was really upsetting as we really needed it at that time... anyway Larry built himself one this past summer, and lent it to Jack a couple of weeks before Christmas, Jack brought it back couple of days before Christmas, and loved it so much that he bought himself one that had been in an accident... he was describing it to Larry, and as it turns out it was the one that was stolen from us... poor Jack felt so bad that he wanted to give it back to us... we didn't need it and were perfectly happy to let Jack have it... anyway Jack feels so guilty that they are taking us out for supper.... we are going to Hans Wok... a new Chinese restaurant in town... with really great Chinese food..hot, not greasy and very tasty... they are starting a buffet in Feb, so that should be great for lunches...
I am heading off to Lake Cowichan for Valentines, Jeanette is having a retreat... i try to go every other year... Toni's barn fell down over the winter, i want to get some old barn board so Larry can make me some picture frames.. for a bunch of wild life pictures that i have and to frame some of his scroll saw work...I usually walk on, but can ya imagine me getting off the ferry with a load of lumber under my arm....going down on Wed the 11th, spending the night with my Mom and heading over to the island on Thursday, and then Toni and Isabel and i are off to the retreat on Friday, will spend Sunday with Toni and then back to Moms and then home on Tuesday...hope the weather is good.... better go and fix supper... have a great day....S

don't ya hate it

Don't ya hate it when you lose something important.. I can't find the receipt for the bedroom suite we just bought..I never throw anything like that away... i have put it somewhere and for the life of me i just can't find it...We still don't have the bedroom suite, no mattress.. they keep want to bring the other stuff out..so what is the sense in that, when we don't have the mattress, we would have to walk around it for days..I have called several times and didn't have much luck, everything else is there except the mattress... i am going to have to take a quiet minute and sit down and think about where i put it... I always put important receipts on the fridge for a couple of months... but it is not there... DAMN

Other than that nothing exciting in my life... although i do plan on winning the 649 tomorrow nite... 43 million... i would have so much fun giving it away... kids, brother and SIL, mom, Brother in Law and SIL, good friends, pay off other friends mortgages... give lots to char ties..build a new house, nice wooden fence around the property..a HOLIDAY.. to someplace nice and warm...

Our crazy parrot is talking up a storm as i type...Larry taught him to say "Lets go hunting Steve", which he picked up in about 2 days..Mom and I got a Nintendo DS for Christmas... "Brain Age"... you play it to see just how smart ya are... there is one game on there that gives you a colour word like BLACK, and it is coloured REd... you are suppose to say the colour Red, not the word Black... same with the word Red, coloured yellow, so you are suppose to say Yellow... so anyway we were fooling with it all Christmas day, so all you could hear was Black, blue, black, red, yellow, blue, black...mom, Matt, Kelly and me... all day long...so about a week ago... the bird starts blue/black./blue/blue...ah shit.... really makes us laugh...especially the 'ah shit' Larry taught Yankee to say "Clara's a hottie"...(she is a friend we play cards with), now the bird has changed it to "Clara's a hooker"... on his own... don't even know where he got the "hooker' from.. When Larry broke his leg, the bird was driving him nuts, so Larry kept saying "give me a break", so the bird started saying that... then he changed it to "Give me a bridge" we don't use bridge around the house, so figure he picked it up off the TV.. we watch the morning news...

darn i sure wish i could find that receipt... oh well, better go look for it..... have a great day...

cold day

HI...another cold day... no where near -28, only -4, but with a wind... we woke up to a very cold bedroom this morning, with the window being open and the wind blowing in... Larry went out to do chores right after breakfast, and with in a few minutes, "jackson" the bouvier was roaring around the yard, barking up a storm... went to check it out, and see the llama and the alpacas making a bee line for the front field, where they haven't been since last Sept...i guess they were standing in front of the gate, and Dixie ran at them, and the llama hit the gate and opened it..and away they went...so they were out for about an hour or so... they finally came back in for their breakfasts, everyone but Ringo..and he won't go in, so Larry closed the gate, and he stayed out till we did the evening chores... he was really glad to go in...
We were out playing cards last night... the guys beat us, but we will beat them next time... we sure have a good time, lots of laughs and giggles...Our "Jimmy" is still acting up... it keeps heating up, we have put in at least 4 gallons of antifreeze since Christmas.... but there is no sign of a leak... it is going in tomorrow to the doctor... hopefully they will find out what is wrong...i have a hair appt on Tuesday, but might have to cancel it, if we don't have a set of wheels..
We had a guild meeting on Wednesday, we were having a problem with the room that we were using, they weren't cleaning it... the floor hadn't been washed since Sept...and we even had to sweep the floor..., so we went to meet at the local book stores... it was fine, but she keeps the room very cool, several girls put on their coats...so we will got back to the original room, a couple of the girls check on it, and they say the floor has been washed...we are really having a tough time finding a good place to meet... Jean who stores our stuff,(books and looms)is moving to Kamloops, so we will lose our storage...i don't have room...and neither do the others...well have a good nite....

actually the date is January 13-09

Finally got my inheritance from my Step granmother...she died Jan 23-08.. and thought she was doing the right thing by using a Notary... they charged us a fortune and it took almost a whole year... Mom has decided she will just let my brother and I deal with her estate... if we don't kill each other first...he is the type who will say black is white just for the argument.. Anyway, i decided that Larry and I need a new bed, our Christmas present to each other.. so we went to the "Brick" as they had good beds on sale... i wanted a head and foot board, but we ended up buying a whole bedroom suite..it has been 41 years since we last had a new bedroom suite... it is a nice suite, pine, with a vanity, chest and two bedside tables and a sleigh bed... now we have to figure out were to put it so it all fits... our room on has two walls where the bed can go...so we will have to play around with setting it up..they charged us $100 for delivery, and are making 3 deliveries, with no extra charge... go figure

We went to Kamloops to buy the bed, in a snow storm, and decided to go out for lunch..went to Tony Roma's and spent 20 minutes waiting for someone to wait on us, so we got mad and left, went to the White Spot, and had our drinks within 2 minutes of sitting down...so of course i emailed Tony Roma's and am waiting to hear what they say.... I complained about "Milestones" after a very bad lunch and they sent me a twenty five dollar complimentary meal ticket...and when i used it, meal was just as bad again... so that is the last time i will eat there...

I had to return a Christmas present too... my girlfriend and hubby bought us a set of stainless steel cutlery set..an expensive set...but after two washings there were rust spots on it... so i took it back, and the witch at the till tried to convince that it was my dishwasher, if i had been on the ball i would have told her that i didn't have a dishwasher...i have used my dishwasher for years and never had rust on my cutlery...anyway i found another set double the price on sale for 15 dollars more... a very nice set... it is so nice to have a set that all matches...I also got a good buy on some sheets... paid $59 for a set worth $139... don't ya love good buys..

Joe and Kelly and dropped Jesse off for Agility last Friday... our instructor as raised her prices, so it makes it very expensive...especially running two dogs... so i have decided to run the two dogs until March, and then i will put Dixie in the March trial, and see how she does, and if she does poorly, i will take her out, and if she does good, i will run Jesse one month and Dixie the next month..... The weather warmed up nicely, so we were much warmer... Dixie's class was so very slow... the others in the class are all very new, and took up much of the hour... I had 4 runs in the hour, and each run was no longer than a minute... works out to 4 bucks a minute... a little expensive..the more i think about it the more i think i will drop Dixie after this month...i am not happy and i like to be happy... Jesse's class is more advanced, and we had about 8 runs each..

Went into town to day..just down the road there was a flag person, they were cutting down some trees along the road.. of course they were the bug killed ones..Dept of Hwys was cutting them down...to make the road safe... boy when i came home it looked like a bomb had gone off...i used to love that part of the road... pine trees on every side, the sun shine shining thru and the smell of the pine and the coolness of the air ..it brought tears to my eyes... we are hoping that the cold weather which hit after an extended warm spell killed the bugs before they made their antifreeze..but we won't know till spring..
Guild meeting tomorrow.. going to meet at a local book store, the room we have been using is a nice bright room, but they haven't been keeping it clean... i am sure the floor hadn't been washed since September... so we are trying to find some where else... we are non profit, and don't have a lot of $$, so i will keep looking till we can find something else... or just drop the guild, and i don't really want to do that...take care nite nite

January 4-09

Days are flying by already, where does the time go... It was agility day yesterday..and it was-18 when i got up... I am just getting too old for cold weather... an hour and a half is okay, but 3 hours is too much running two dogs, so i decided to leave Dixie at home and and just take Jesse... it was a beautiful day, with lots of sunshine and beautiful blue sky...but the temperature was -17 all day...and it was really cold in the arena, i am very glad i only took one dog.. Jesse did really well..one of our team members just found out she is pregnant (invetro).. we were very pleased for her... so her hubby ran her dog... he is RCMP and a big guy who has never run agility before, but he did a really good job with her..and i think he enjoyed it..he gave us a good laugh..

We haven't had so much sunshine in years.. usually the weather is warmer and we have lots of clouds..but i am really enjoying the sun, but not the cold... We played cards again last night, Glenys decided we were going to have oysters for supper...and they were very good, very mild... i don't like strong tasting ones... I hope to be able to pick up some nice fresh ones while i am on the island in Feb... spinning retreat at Cowichan Lake... that is if we can get in thru all the snow..I am hoping that Larry will come with me...he hasn't met Toni's hubby, but they should get alone, as he is a logger and a farmer...both occupations that Larry has done over the years

Dixie just found her ball in the snow, but as you can see it is on the other side of the gate...and in the next picture she is trying to get it thru the gate, but it doesn't fit

...she does really work at it, but i finally gave in and got it for her... she is a very smart dog... There is a one day agility trial in March and i am temped to put her in it just to see how she would do... the prices of our classes have gone up, and i am not sure i can afford to run two dogs... so this would be the final decision... if she runs poorly i will quit taking her to classes, and just take Jesse... either that or i win a couple of million bucks...

take care and have a good day....

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy New Year 2009... so hard to believe, seems like it was just yesterday that they were saying the world was going to CRASH in 2000...guess they were wrong... We got up to 6 more inches of snow... makes about a total of 12 inches now..we went out to a New Years Eve brunch..made some carmel corn... for breakfast... you bet ya... anyway we had a Hawaiian Surfers Breakfast... can't remember the Hawaiian name for it... but apparently this is what the local surfers eat just before they head out on the surf....scoop of rice, a meat pattie(ours was turkey), a fried egg, and brown sauce(gravey type)... sounds weird but actually is was good..my friend is a Chinese Hawaiin..so she makes all kinds of hawaiin dishes... apparently one of the staples for the locals is SPAM... rice rolls with spam... We are having friends over for supper and cards...a good sirloin roast, mashed garlic spuds, yorkshires, brussel sprouts, and peas and carrot ts... and a googy chocolate dessert with ice cream and raspberry sauce.. sounds good eh...
I got a new flyer for my Joy, and sent off the old one, but got it back in the mail yesterday, can ya imagine they changed their address, but sent me an invoice with the old address on it... I did get the new address from Marg, but i guess i was too lazy to go look for her email with the address on, but i figured that the invoice would have the correct address on it... wonder how good their business is... anyway the new one works great... have been knitting a shawl for a friend, and just started a pair of fingerless gloves for a guild project, we are going to have a small show in the art gallery in September..so we have to keep the guild producing... so we have some thing to show...Have a great New Year...hugs
