things are better today

HI  Well things are better today... getting used to the empty field.. sure has cut back on the amount of hay i am feeding..we were feeding a bale a day, looks like a bale will last us 4 or 5 days now... what a bonus... got a email from the girls new owner, and she says they have settled and are fitting right in... which i am pleased with... most of them were born here on the place, and that is all they know... I have a big problem sending anything through the auction... I had a lovely old ram, HANK... what a old sweetie he was... but we had too many of his daughters, and had to get rid of him... so i did the same thing, i sold him to a friend, and by the time she had to get rid of him, it was much easier for me... so the same thing will happen with the herd of Shetlands... they were good girls and easy to handle..
I  have the worlds figure skating on in the background.. and they are doing the compulsory dance, which is the golden waltz, and i love the music...nothing better than the old time waltz..If i ever replace the love of my life, the next one will be able to DANCE...only time Larry dances is when he had had too much to drink, which never happens anymore...
I am taking Levi into town with me tomorrow, have to go get some lay pellets, and going to meet Denise (my agility partner) and introduce her dog Pip to Levi... they have never been together... sure hope they get along..or that will be the end of our doing agility together...
better get my camera ready to take with me tomorrow..hopefully will take some pictures of them playing..
almost ready to go feed the dogs, and gather the eggs and feed the llama and the 3 alpacas..

Sheepless in Merritt

Very sad day for Larry and I, we are now SHEEPLESS... I have been pondering getting rid of the sheep..i have no ram, and hay is so expensive, so i decided it was time... I have had sheep for over 25 years, and it was time... I tried my friend Toni, and i was so positive she would take them as she has such a soft spot for critters... I guess i should have told her that i was going to butcher them all, i know that would have done it... so I tried my neighbour, who also has a soft spot for critters... she thought about it for a week, and her and her boys came over today, and they are all gone... Larry of course wanted to keep his favorites, but i said NO... they all have to go... so now we are down to one old Llama and 3 old alpacas... 5 (2 old) dogs, 2 old cats, 24 chickens, 7 turkeys(Royal Palms)(i found two eggs this morning)...and the BIRD..so now we might be able to take a few more trips without worring about having someone come in to stay.. we will travel when Joe is on his 4 days off, so there will be someone here...
Levi and I had a good day at agility... he is improving every week... my agility buddy and i are thinking of coming down to Cloverdale for a trial the 9th of April... so if anyone is interested  in having a good giggle watching Levi and I making a fool of ourselves let me know and i will let you know what time .. I am too sad to write much... will give it a day or two before i get over letting them go..

spring is around the corner

Hi... nothing new and exciting around here this week... stayed home all week, went to the Food bank on Thursday, (had problems with the program we use to keep track of the clients, everytime we added a client the program would take one away..would only hold just so many.. guess we need a new program, it isn't Word which will hold tons).. did a bit of grocery shopping, bought some cotton, boy i hate commerical yarn.. going to make a cute little cotton hat for a set of twins and my girlfriend's grandbaby..i have got them started, well one started, and do not like knitting them... so it will be a challenge...

Levi and I went to Agility on Saturday morning.. neither of us were brillant, but by the end of the class we had it figured out... wish we could have a practice run at the trials so we could figure it out before the run that counted..he is getting better every class... and his manners are getting better...

Steve and Clara came for supper, Ham, scalloped spuds, turnip/carrot, spinach salad, angel food cake with homegrown raspberry sauce.. talked Glenys into coming as Dave is away in Winnipeg... so we had to play "Sticks"  a form of Contract rummy... Steve was worn out, so they left after supper, and we had a quiet night..

Got our new satellite from Telus on Tuesday... sure is a nice picture... high definitation.. and a PVR..(personal video recorder)... very nice... and Toni, i have it figured out, so i can program yours so you never have to miss a Cornation Street again..  you can program it to record your favorite program while you watch something else..so i have it set to record the new series "Pacific" only when there is a new show... for Joe.. he wants to watch it..he is a history buff... i can tell everytime he has been in the house, the history channel is on..i always thought he would be a good history teacher as he love history and remembers it..drive me nuts sometimes with all his facts...

The time change sure has upset the sheep and the chickens..but won't take long for them to get used to the change..
Think i will start raking the lawn tomorrow, if it doesn't snow overnight again... dog poop everywhere..  ugly... take care... Sheila

fuzzy bird

Hi... had to change Yankee's picture... he was out of focus.... hope this one is better...Snow this morning... ugh... just enough to make a mess... nothing interesting today as yet............. S

Spring is on the way

Morning... what happened to winter... I was out early this morning... 10 am, and was checking the trees, and my currant bushes are starting to show green on the buds... Lilac buds are getting fat.. and it isn't even the middle of March, I hope the spring stays warm and we don't lose the blossoms on the apple, peach and cherry trees..
Haven't been feeling well this week... went up to play cards with Friends last Saturday, i couldn't even get thru the first hand with out making a dash to the bathroom... so that was the end of cards for that day, and i still don't feel 100 % this week... went to Guild meeting, and didn't even take anything to do.. which is a real first for me...  went to the Food bank the next day just to keep moving..was by myself and was rushed off my feet...havent' been sleeping, seem to wake up at 4:30 and then don't go back to sleep until 6.. just don't feel up to snuff...  Agility was good yesterday, and i love it so much, I forgot i was feeling crappy...Levi did really well, a few errors, but we both got some praise from the instructor...he is doing as well as the other dogs who have been doing it for 2 or 3 years...I know i have said that more than once, but i am proud of him..At the food bank on Thursdays we set up a big pot of coffee and some muffins, doughnuts and stuff for the clients.. they come in, have a visit and a cuppa and then move on... i get a good giggle out of some of them... I asked one fellow how he was, and he answered" SSDD",  I didn't have a clue what that meant, and he told me"  Same Shit, Different Day"...don't ya love it... anyway we were chatting away, and one other fellow says..."did you see what she did", I said no... he said "She walked off with the cream jug "  which was full of milk for their coffee.... can ya imagine.. really biting the hand that feeds ya..
We are changing our Satelliet system on Tuesday... Telus called me a few weeks back, and offered me a deal that i couldn't refuse... HD PVR (High definition Personal video recorder)"..and all the same channels for half the price i am paying now...so he is coming on Tuesday..
Monday Morning... got company yesterday and forgot to finish this... been knitting on the current shawl, not bad, but no easy repeats so i have to watch where i am all the time... and count and recount... but it looks good so far.. a bit of snow this morning, just enough to make ya mad... it was so nice and dry... will try and do more blogging as my faithfully reader (youngest son) reminds me that i don't update often enough... thanks Matt..

May the Bird of Paradise fly up your nose

New picture of the noisest thing in my life... Larry has taught him to sing.."May the bird of Paradise fly up your nose, may an elephant caress you with his toes.."  only word he can't say is 'elephant' but he is working on it... he is so noisey these days... when i am on the phone i have to give him a cookie (his favorite is the 'Ice wafers") to shut him up...
I really enjoyed the Olympics much more than i thought i would...i really like seeing them in real time, and not a day after the fact...(like it will be in Russia)...wasn't that Russian anthem really long and boring...   Canada did us proud, and i am so glad there wasn't any trouble with all those people wandering around the streets...

I have finished my jacket... had to make it fit by adding some more rows along the sides... but when i washed it and blocked it, i couldn't believe that all the holes in the lace matched up... i will get the guild to take some pictures of it on Wednesday.. it was my Desert Mesa project from last spring... we had to make something out of what we were spinning... and i finished it... now i am starting on Toni's birthday gift...looks good so far.. only 50+ rows done...
Weather has been beautiful... i am sure my currants and lilacs are thinking about blooming..
Levi had a fair day at agility on Saturday, he wasn't as good as last week, but he did have his moments of brillance... but i must remember that he has only been doing it for 9 months... i must get some pictures of him soon... better go, the man in my life wants to check out his old iron stuff..... S
