a million miles

We have a squirrel (grey) living near us... we have 3 bird feeders hanging from 7 foot posts on the fence.. that little squirrel must make a million miles a day... we laugh at him every morning... i timed him this morning, and it takes him 20 seconds to leave the feeder or the ground, along the fence, off the fence, drops the seed near the pine tree, and then back to the feeder.. he must be taking a nap as i haven't seen him for a bit...i am going to find where he is putting the seeds, i bet we will have a ton of sunflowers out there this next spring..if the llama doesn't eat them off..

We had supper and played cards last nite, i just love not having to cook supper... and of course tons of laughs and giggles..

Larry is off to the massage therapist today... he had to take the Jimmy for a wheel bearing, and wouldn't be finished in time to come back and pick me up... so i cx me and let him go by himself...he has been sleeping better so hope it is working for me...
It is our guild Christmas party next week... have to find a gift for a very special friend... i have to go to Kamloops on Thursday, so i hope i can find something very special for her...decided to make a Spinach salad for our pot luck lunch.. better get my act in gear and get this place cleaned up, my turn to host the card party... decided to have old family recipe ... meat pies... made 12 of them yesterday... had one each for supper last nite... nothing exciting, just hamburger with onion and garlic, and the gravy is made with Bisto gravy mix, put into a pastry crust..top and bottom... my Dad's very favorite... Mom used to make a pile of them for him when she went away... one time, that is all he ate the whole week she was gone...L and i just eat them with out spuds or veggies, but will have to make both for our guests, as the two other guys are very big eaters...and they need their veggies...

I know, i know

I know that it has been 18 days since i last posted... sure don't know where the time has gone... my excuse is that i was cleaning up my desk and had so much junk on it, i couldn't find the key board...good excuse, yes. Not too sure where to start... I did go down to the boob surgeon two weeks ago, and every thing is just fine... i did ask her how much she removed... 3 pounds... she also showed me the picture she took the first time i was there... what a difference... I have started agility again, and there is no pain.. although i did wear a ordinary bra yesterday, and i was very uncomfortable last night, i feel much better with a sports bra... i have one that i wear at home, and one that i wear when i do agility..(more support)...i did find the ordinary bra very uncomfortable during the day too...i was always pulling at it... and with the sports bra, i hardly know i have it on...had a quick visit with my Mom... did a bit of shopping, haven't bought a lot for Christmas yet, i am trying to cut back this year...Larry has been doing a lot of scroll saw work, he is making loads of Christmas decorations, I need to buy a new tree this year, am thinking of a small one, and decorating it with some really cute little doves that he has made, nothing else just the doves and lights...We have learned a new card game... a variation of Contract rummy... this one u pick a stick with the contract written on it... like 'a run of spades, and a set of diamonds', we have a lot of fun playing it... we laugh at the guys as they can't remember what a run is or a set... we didn't play this weekend as Clara was away and i was at the agility trial in Kamloops... we did okay, but didn't qualify in anything... for some reason Jesse would just stop jumping and just look at me... and you have to beat a set time, and that is our biggest problem... i might start specializing her, that way she doesn't jump as high.. instead of 10 inches she will jump 6 inches and have more time...will have to think about it...it was not too cold, although i did wear long johns and lined pants... by about 2 o'clock i was getting chilled... made myself a hot apple cider, and that sure helped... my agility buddy and i went over the night before, had supper at Tony Roma's, and then went to the movies, it has been years since i was at the movies, we saw the "the changeling"... sure makes one think... it was about cops in Los Angles in 1928 who won't believe Anglea Jolie that the kid that they found wasn't her son, they locked her up in an asylum, because she was fighting them... it was based on a true story... scarey...
And then Denise started getting a cold... so as soon as i got home I started taking 'cold Fx', it worked last time Larry got a cold and i didn't want one just before the retreat.. hopefully it will work again..
the weather sure has been good for November... we even had a flock of robins in the yard last week.. and we still have a black bird hanging around..but the winter birds are sure going thru the seed... i always wait a couple of days before i fill up the feeders... that way they clean up what is on the ground... have to find a cheaper place to buy bird seed... i hate the ones that are full of millet... not one of the wild birds like it... i also put out the left overs from Yankee's seed... stuff that he doesn't eat... Yankee learned a new phrase last week... one of the friends we play cards with is the manager of the local credit union..and Larry taught Yankee to say her name, he now says "clara is a hottie" she hasn't heard him yet and i can hardly wait for her to hear him...
Larry and i went for a massage last week... his restless legs are really bothering him, and my hips are bothering me, so we decided to go for a massage...with a man and woman, who either massage you at the same, or you and a spouse or friend can have a massage at the same time in the same room..Larry really enjoyed it, so we are going again on Thursday..
Guild meeting tomorrow, i missed the last meeting as i was at the coast for my Dr appt...i hate missing the meetings..i am spinning some alpaca/merino, in a lovely dark grey..for a shawl for a friend who really loved the colour..i am knitting on Marie's shawl for her 60th birthday in April, and then have a few more to finish for 60th birthdays, my long time VET, who will not admit that she is turning 60 in August, and my agility instructor who won't be 60 till Dec next year... so i have lots of time,. Okay dear friends... will keep up my blog better... talk to ya soon.... Sheila

Hi, what a busy week, and i only went into town on Wednesday.. Matt (youngest son) came up on Tuesday with his new little pup, a miniature pinscher, 10 weeks old, i weighted her on Wed and she weights 3.5 lbs... a very smart little girl, he calls her Kayda
isn't she a cutie... she doesn't have much coat... that spot under her neck is like peach fuzz
here she is with Jackson... she is a smart little girl, she learned to sit for me, in a matter of minutes..

How come men are such pains at times... for 20 years i have wheeled the wheel barrow around a cut off stump in the gate to the sheep pen, and since Larry has been doing the chores, he dug up the stump... when i asked him to take it out, he ignored me... and the stump, but it is gone now..as he had to wheel the barrow around it twice a day... not an important thing when it bothered me, but he had it out in less than a month when he had to deal with it... oh well, at least it is gone...
Here is my partner in crime, Donna and her buddy Carol...a really good picture, think i will get a copy of it printed off and send it to them...
Love this picture of Toni... i have no idea what she was doing, but the look on her face was priceless..

And this is the infamous "SockLady", Lynn... what a character she is, and a very talented knitter...would love to go visit her one day to see just where she lives..

Matt, the youngest son is coming up today for a couple of days, he has a week off work so is coming up for some R and R... bring his new puppy, so i will get some pictures of her and get them posted.

more pictures

this is Karen modeling her 60th birthday shawl, only 1.5 years late... don't ya just love the colour.. cherry red from Aurelia Wools..
Karen and i glad to be friends... don't ya just love her smile
Wendy and Mona enjoying each other's friendship..

Heather and Trixie spinning their hearts out...

Weather has been very cool, but i do love the fall... the birch tree really lost its leaves in the wind..i love the look of them on the lawn... Larry cut the lawn for the last time on Wednesday, we get so many pine needles and if you don't get them up in the fall, it is really hard to rake the lawn in the spring... looks nice and tidy right now... I spent half a day painting the new "roll away nest box" (for our 4 chickens) yesterday... painted it RED... looks good, and then of course Larry decided that he would use the paint sprayer for the 2nd coat, would have been nice to do the first coat with the sprayer..oh well..Dixie is so funny with the new chickens, she figures they are just for her, she won't let Jackson near the hen house, she sneers at him, but if she growls at him, he lays a lickin on her..

Dixie and Jesse and i are off to agility tomorrow.. first time in 2 months..hope i can run with them... if i find it too hard, i will have to start working out..need to dig out the long johns, i hate being cold... going to wear the new sweater from the Socklady... very fine Merino long sleeve... and my new gloves from Karen (need to take a picture of them)... talk to ya soon....

i must be getting old

I must be getting old as i put two of the same pictures in two different blogs.. old, i am getting
this is the other Sheila from my guild... 12 members and two Sheilas..

.this is Julia playing her hand made Harp... what a beautiful sound to spin by..so relaxing, and we all enjoy it so much
this is Bernice, Karen and Toni acting as a swift for Laura as she rolled up the ball, they were swinging like a swift... goofy old girls, and Doris concentration on her silk spinning

this is Teresa, Sue, Renate, and Suzanne spinning by the door.. they always grab the door, as some times it gets pretty warm in our room..

Had an interesting guild meeting yesterday, Annie and the other Sheila decided that we needed to learn new things, so we have set a project, nothing too exciting, but fingerless gloves.. and made with lace or cable, something that you have not done before and we even set a date to work for.. and we set a date for our Christmas party, but we didn't exchange names which we should have done...

We had company show up Tuesday nite, an old driving buddy of Larry's when he used to drive long distance, a really character, and lots of fun... also had the son and daughter in law over for supper, so we had a nice visit with everyone, and then the youngest son called, he was over at Grandma's where he vacuumed her van and washed all the van windows... he takes such good care of his ole grandma. He is planning on coming up for a visit soon, with his new puppy, a miniature pincher, who he called Kayda he needed the company and the exercise. Well i had better go muck out the bathroom and then go out and paint my new nest boxes... more pictures tomorrow.... hugs

More photos of the reteat

this is the meeting room, can't remember if it is early morning or while everyone is at a meal..it is a lovely big room with lots of windows and fairly good lighting at night.

this is Gail, wonderful spinner and who smiles all the time and the "Socklady", who knits wonderful complicated patterned socks..and is a really talented spinner, and a true pioneer as she lives beyond 'no where' all by herself

this is Karen wearing hair thingy given to her by her granddaughter, who really knows her grandma, who is know to some of us as "she who will not be noticed", she had a purple one, red one, and a teal one, which she did wear everyday
This also belongs to Karen, a little yellow toy lizard given to Karen by the same granddaughter. Karen had wanted a dragon for Mother's day, but the granddaugther gave her this lizard instead, and told Karen "and you will like it" so that is the lizard's name "and you will like it".(this is Toni stepping on "so you will like it" as he squeaked) So you can figure out that our conversations run the full gammet of subjects, grandkids, granddogs, hubbys, kids, animals, wild life, colours, knitting, spinning...anything you can imagine came up in the conversations...
this a close up of the birthday stole i gave Karen for her 60th birthday that is only 1.5 years late. The pattern is "Falling garden" by Sivi Harding , i don't have a picture of Karen wearing it, but will get one from the others who did take a picture of her wearing it...okay... better go, want to clean out the back porch today, i have decided that i will do one clean up a day... next will be the kitchen drawers that have stuff in them that i have never used...see ya soon
